Dental Implants In Madison, WI

What Are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. Implants can also be used to attach dentures that feel more secure and less bulky than a traditional denture.

What Are Dental Implants Made From?
Dental Implants are usually made of a synthetic yet biocompatible material like titanium and are restored using a ceramic or hybrid metal/ceramic Crowns. We restore with the incredibly strong and aesthetically beautiful BruxZir Zirconia material.

Do Dental Implants Look Natural?
Implants are so well designed that they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Before the development of dental implants, bridges, partials and dentures were the only alternative to replacing a missing tooth or teeth.

Is Dental Implants The Right Choice For Anyone?
Not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant, however. For a successful implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a healthy immune system. In all cases, dental implants require strict oral hygiene.

Does This Procedure Require Surgery?
Surgery is necessary to prepare the area for an implant and place the implant in the mouth. Because implants require surgery, patients may be administered anesthesia and, if necessary, antibiotics to stave off infection following the procedure. Following the procedure, about 3 months or so is required for the implant to take integrate with the bone; bone tissue will build up to anchor the device.

After integration is established, metal posts are inserted into the implant to take an impression of the implant angle and space for the tooth. The posts come out in the impression, though. We than send the impression on to one of the top labs in the U.S. to have the implant tooth created. We then secure it onto the implant post and you're done!

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?
Implants can last decades if properly taken care of. Poor habits can lead to gum disease and bone loss that can weaken the bone around the implant. Like any restoration, implants require consistent oral hygiene and proper care to ensure they last a long time.
